Story time...

Hello all,
It dawns on me that I never told you the story of how we let our loveable dog know that we are expecting the baby. If you have a dog, then you know that it is actually not a trivial task to introduce your dog to your new baby. There are lots of books and techniques that tell you how to introduce your beloved pooch to the new member of the family. Well, Rebecca and I decided we would let Hardy in on the secret early. I could just tell you the story in words, but I think a picture library will be best. I think it went something like this....

Once upon a time there was a happy family, Hardy and his two people Jeff and Rebecca...

Then one day, Jeff and Rebecca told Hardy that he was not going to be the only one receiving attention in the near future, yep, they told him they were pregnant...

Well, Hardy didn't take it so well, in fact, he got real mad...

Hardy even challenged Jeff to a fight...

Jeff and Hardy were involved in an epic battle...

Ultimately Jeff won by knocking Hardy out (hey, I gotta defend my wife).....

Hardy was then thrown into doggy jail....

While serving hard time in "da joint", Hardy had lots of time to think about all of the good times he had with Jeff and Rebecca and how much he liked them....

He then decided that having three people to play with and to walk was better than none, so Hardy made up with Rebecca, Jeff, and the Truffle. He even decided to "kiss the baby"...

In the end they all lived happily ever after, and Hardy was sooooo tired. The end.

One down, two to go...

Welcome to the 2nd trimester. Currently, we are at ~14 weeks and all is going well. We had another doctors appointment today and we heard the baby's heartbeat again. Its been four weeks since we last heard it, so it was a very welcomed noise. That little drumbeat is so comforting to hear, but at the same time it is very awe-inspiring.

Well, here are the stats:
The heartbeat was 160 bpm, so it definitely is a boy or a girl.
Rebecca's net weight gain is _ lbs. You didn't think I would actually put that on the web, did you? I must say that it was good. It is in the ideal range. Now, Rebecca if you are reading this, don't go get a big head and start eating ribs, cheeseburgers and such.

Ok, what has been going on? Well, we pretty much have told a lot of people (probably about everyone that we really like) that we are expecting. If you are reading this and haven't been told, then you may be a stranger and accidently found this link of the web. In that case, "hi, how are you?". Welcome to my blog and I hope you enjoy.

The 2nd option is that we forgot you. In that case, we are sorry, but at the same time we are very curious about how you got this blog address. Not only are we curious, but we are impressed by your resourcefulness. That is pretty cool that we didn't even tell you that we are expecting, but you figure it out and you are all like excited and stuff. And then because you are so excited you figure, "hey, they should have a website to share that wonderfuel news." But then you think to yourself, "Rebecca and Jeff are pretty clever, I bet they do have a website. Let me go look for it." At first you are puzzled because you don't know the URL and guessing an internet address is a daunting task. But finally it hits you. "Jeff and Rebecca both went to Michigan, and people who go to Michigan yell 'go blue'. Also, Jeff went to NCSU, and people who go to NCSU yell 'man we suck', I mean they yell 'go pack'." At this point you have almost put the puzzle together, but you didn't know which order the 'go blue' and the 'go pack' are located in the URL. However, you rationalize that since both of us went to Michigan and only I went to NCSU (2 > 1), then the 'go blue' must go first. Now at this point, I am curious how you figured out we chose the domain blogspot. However, being the crafty individual that you are, I'm sure that was the easy part. We are very impressed. So impressed, in fact, that we want you to know that we will definitely not forget you on the next kid.

Let's see.... a good story to close. We told the youth group at church that we are expecting and it was pretty fun. We decided to do it via the game "Hangman". Yep, the words "church", "baby", and "Hangman" do go together. The phrase that we decided on was, "We are having a Baby". After about 10 minutes and a lot of missed letters, we were left with, "We are having a -a--".
That is definitely, "We are having a Ball". Nope, try again. "We are having a Bath". Nope, try again. "We are having a Ball". Again, that is not correct. What about..."We are having a Ball". Seriously, that is not the phrase!!! Finally, one astute person shouts out, "We are having a Baby". I say 'yes!' Everyone claps and cheers. But that is only because they finally got the puzzle right. Then about 10 seconds later, it sinks in and then they cheer again....this time louder. That was pretty cool.
